The Story

By any means necessary — my name is Justin. I was raised in South East Auckland and resided most of my adult life in Otara. My style and fashion sense have always been heavily influenced by American street culture, shaped by my deep love for music. Growing up, I was surrounded by the sounds of old-school funk and R&B, thanks to my family — and that vibe continues to inspire everything I do.

I made a name for myself in the New Zealand hip hop community as the country’s first-ever beatboxing champion. As my skills grew, so did the opportunities — I found myself traveling the world, sharing my talent on global stages. But over time, things took a turn. I found myself surrounded by the wrong influences and made some decisions I’ve had to learn from — choices I’m not proud of, but ones that have shaped who I am today.

Since then, I’ve been on a journey of growth and self-discovery. I’ve surrounded myself with people who accept and love me — flaws and all — and I’ve come to truly appreciate the simple, meaningful things in life.

Now, my mission is to spread that same positivity. I want to help others see that there’s more to life — that no matter where you’ve been, there’s always a way forward. If I can inspire even one person to choose hope, to believe in change, then I know I’m making a difference.

This journey led me to create Thread Culture. It all started with Kliq x Briq — the original name of my clothing brand, where I was designing and selling DTF T-shirts, crewnecks, and hoodies. But as time went on, I realised that in order for the business to truly grow, I had to pivot. I saw a real gap in the market — especially when it comes to big and tall clothing — something most labels continue to overlook. Thread Culture is my answer to that, blending style, comfort, and inclusivity for all body types.

I’m truly grateful to everyone who’s supported me on this journey with the clothing brand. Your encouragement has kept the vision alive. As I continue to grow Thread Culture, my mission is to spread more than just style — I want to inspire positivity, create a sense of belonging, and remind people that they matter.
